After walking on the blvd for an hour trying not to gag on our gum we went back to spensa's house because we were freaking thirsty. Spensa insisted that i had to try this thing called Milo, which is exactly like Nestle quick "only better", says spen. He filled the glass half full of the powder and half full of milk. "Its only good if you have that much in there".
I asked him if he had a straw and he said "well you cant really eat it with a straw" and i soon found out what he meant by that.

It looks totally disgusting but its actually really good.Next he goes over to the fridge with a spoon (not letting me see what he was doing) , scoops something onto the spoon and gives it to me. It kind of resembled chocolate moose but it was a lot thicker and stickier. He told me i HAD to try it...but it looked so sick that there was no way i was going to with out proof it wasn't kangaroo poo or something. he said "will you try it if i do?" so i figured if he was eating it then it was probably safe. So he gets another spoon and eats some. After about five seconds though he spit it out and said "ah! i cant even eat it like this".
Turned out its Vegemite.
He says that he doesn't know a single Australian who doesn't have it. They put it on toast and sandwiches and stuff. It was pretty dang disgusting all by it's self but on some bread it was pretty good, i didn't actually get to try it on bread but spensa's little sister brought some friends over and they had it on bread and said it was good. But i couldn't believe that spen was trying to get me to eat a whole freaking spoonful of it! what i jerk ;)

I've eaten vegemite--only a tiny bit on a spoon. It was SOOOOO nasty! it smells bad and it tastes worse. Like spicey stinky tar. It's the leftovers after making beer, like yeast paste or something. And some australian is like--hey, why don't I eat that on some toast? blech.
ReplyDeleteDustin told me about vegemite and how awful it is! He always drank Milo on his mission too. He said he loves that stuff.
