Zion Adventure Day Uno

I know my last 20 or so posts have been rather boring and have the absence of pictures so you'll be pleased to know that the following posts will have many!

Last Wednesday I met Andrew Titensor at sorority frat exchanged and somehow we figured out that we both have a love for Technical Slots. He then proceeded to invite me to Zion for the weekend with his friends. It was kinda like a dream "this cute guy is really inviting me to do technical slots with him after an hour of knowing him?!". I have to admit i was a tiny bit nervous so we made plans to go to midnight sushi to get to know the team a bit more later that week. After sushi I was plenty convinced i would be in good hands for the weekend.

Thursday after my first aid class I went over to Andrew's and Todd's (andy's roommate) apartment and we disembarked for an adventure of a life time!

I felt really comfortable with them from the very beginning. Both of these guys are quite great. Tod is a helicopter engineer for the Army (25) and Andrew is working on his degree in communications at the U (24). Both are incredibly talented and I didn't stop laughing the entire trip because of these fellas!

The did keep making up crazy rules, sadly I cant remember them all but for example: If i needed to use the restroom i could simply pound my fists and start a tantrum (maybe you had to be there to think it was funny).

We stayed in Todd's Grandpa's RV in Hurricane Ut which is only 20ish minutes to Zion. Todd's grandpa was there to "supervise" us so no worries. After getting the the RV and picking up Andrew's friend, Dave, who was joining the adventure team for the weekend we got ready and headed into Zion to see if we could get lucky and pick up a permit for Pinecreek Canyon and The Subway.

The lady at the front desk is no one to mess around with. Actually i'm pretty sure it's all of the back country rangers there, they have to be strict because i'm sure they get a lot of doofs who don't know what they are doing trying to get down the technical slots. But really she could have been a little nicer. They didn't end up having an available permits for the canyons we wanted and to make a long boring story short we ended up getting a different permit in hopes to cheat our way into the subway for the next day.

Since we still had plenty of daylight we hiked to an overview of Pinecreek Canyon, about a 15 minute hike (at most). We got there at perfect lighting which was way awesome. You hardly ever get to see what a slot canyon looks like from the top and the sweet part about this hike is that you can see right into Pinecreek Canyon.

After the hike we headed back to herricane to get some more of Andrews friends and went to dinner at JW's. The food wasnt the greatest but the company sure was!

We had any early start the next day so after a lot, A LOT, of giggling (yes even the boys were giggling) we headed to bed.

Yes at times I thought they were gay too...
