The day was a day like any other.

Andrew got up and went to work.

The dog continued sleeping on his oversized pillow.

Laura got up and went to work. Although something had been in the back of Laura's mind for the past couple days. It had been more than a month since...well since 'aunt flo had come to visit', her 'moon' had come around, she was 'ridin the big red wave', her 'T.O.M.', you get the picture right? She was overdue by about a week and started getting suspicious so she went to Walmart in hopes to find the cheapest pregnancy test she could.

Laura was overwhelmed by the amount of different pregnancy test there were. Many of them proclaimed to give a "Clear answer" some even stating that they could tell her "3 days earlier!". She left Walmart with two different brands of tests each with 2 testing sticks.

Laura and her Husband had arrived home at the same time and because of this she figured she could not do it secretly and only tell her husband that she had resorted all the way to a pregnancy test if it was totally necessary.

"soooo uhhhh" Laura said as she held up a box of unopened Clear Answer pregnancy tests, not really sure what to say and hoping that the gesture would explain it all for her.

"really?" is all Andrew said and Laura turned and walked into the bathroom.

Laura nervously read the directions on the box, followed them, and waited. She kept thinking how weird it was that she was actually taking a pregnancy test and reassured herself that the test would not show up with a little blue line saying she was about to be a mom and she had nothing to worry about.

The timer rang and it was time to look at the skinny white stick that would tell the couple their 'density' (for all those Back to the Future fans). They both agreed to look at it together, and they both stared down at the pregnancy test.

"well I can see a line but it's really faint so I dunno how much that counts" said Laura who ran into the bathroom to pee onto a different brand, convinced that the first one was not accurate. While waiting for the second test Andrew read the small lettering, so to speak, on the instructions.

"well it says here that even a faint line is a positive pregnancy test".
"What! you're just playing around with me right? It has to be like really dark and definite to count".

Ding went to bell and it was time to look at the other prepared test.

"Dang it, I need to go drink some more water so I can take another one because that can not be right". As she gulped down as much water as possible there was not much said between the two. Only a few giggles and sighs pasted their lips as the both tried to take in what was happening. When Laura had gone to get the pregnancy tests she hadn't really thought that it would be positive, not really, and even though she stood and looked at 2 positive pregnancy test she still didn't believe it.

Laura continued to use the last 2 pregnancy test and convinced her husband that they needed to go get more just to make sure. All together they ended up going through 6 different pregnancy tests.

The next day while eating breakfast Laura placed all 6 tests so they laid face up on the table staring at her, and she stared at them. Finally, it started to sink in...
...she was going to be a mommy!

The End

Haha, well I wanted to write down some of the emotions that I felt upon finding out I was pregnant and this is how it came out. Please excuse my terrible writing skills and terrible format.

  1. We learned after taking pregnancy tests with Kate to just get the digital ones that say yes or no. That's what we did with megan. That way you don't have to guess or debate whether the line is dark enough or if it's blue or pink or purple or red etc.

  2. The first one I took was the 2-line things, but I wasn't sure so I did digital too. Yes, SIX total. Even though we were planning it and knew exactly when it was time to test, I still couldn't believe it.
Oh and just wait 'til summer. You've have the house turned down to like 60 to be "comfortable".
